I watched the ABC Democratic Debate a couple weeks ago, and during the debate, the moderators, who asked questions the likes of which I have not heard since my grueling days on the playground, aired a video from a concerned voter.
Already sensing danger, I managed to still my finger near the remote and endure.
A corpulent beast appeared on my television, a monstrosity from the lab’s bargain bin whose question outdid her appearance. Concerning the ever-pressing issue of arbitrary symbols, that is flag pins, she asked Barack Obama whether or not he’d be proud enough to wear a flag pin on his shirt.
“What kind of question is that? You’re a fucking retard. Do the human gene pool a favor and seek a tubal litigation. Immediately.”
That was my response. Unfortunately, Obama’s differed greatly.
With a response like that, I would have crucified a few walruses in his honor and decided to vote for him no matter what he does from here on out.
Instead, he took the question seriously, and he had no choice but to take the question seriously because that’s the mentality of your average voter in this country: childish. They’re children. Pathetic, little children focusing on the most asinine issues.
Too much attention is paid to these presidential pastors, whether it’s John “Jerusalem Countdown” Hagee or Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright, and while it’s reassuring in a way to see Obama distance himself from Wright, it’s also pointless, as the same people who were to use that as an excuse to disparage him are the same people who will simply find another reason not to vote for him. Any reason.
It’s called being an idiot. I hear it’s catching.
Doesn’t anyone understand that these pastors wield no actual power? That they serve as symbols to gain votes? That they’re essentially useless and their comments are indicative of meritless opinions and not enough medication?
Compared to minor issues like the economy, the war in Iraq, and terrorism abroad, I suppose flag pins, loose, biased allegations of Islamic-ties, the comments of their pastors and phonetic coincidence are what will decide this election.
And to think, I thought I knew the real issues. I know, I know, the fucking nerve…perhaps it’s good that I don’t vote.
Does the mainstream media have an agenda to keep the majority of Americans childish, apathetic consumers? If so, Mission Accomplished.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need some Gucci Sunglasses charged on my Visa, but not after I watch Nanny 911.
I never miss it.
